We organize the Great Purple Run on behalf of Liverpool’s biggest evening newspaper, the Liverpool Echo. Raising money for their own purple themed charity, Liverpool Unites, which is concerned with reducing gun and knife crime in the city, the event was held for the first time in 2008 under the title Liverpool Unites Run for Rhys. The target was to raise funds to go towards a community centre in Croxteth, where Rhys Jones was tragically killed.
In 2009, the event will be held in Croxteth Country Park over a 5k distance. We would encourage everyone in the area to take part in this inspirational day out for all the family. Come and run, jog or take a leisurely stroll with the kids and raise some money for this wonderful charity.
